One rough night...

"Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see." [Hebrews 11:1]

Last night was rough, ya'all! Kel fell sleep around 9:30pm - two hours after taking her pain medicine - and slept soundly until we were woke up around 1:00am, when the remote control to the TV fell to the floor and accidentally hit the "nurse call" button...and we hear, "may I help you!" After apologizing for accidental call and feeling absolutely foolish, what followed was one of the toughest night's we have ever put in!
Kel was now wide awake, two hours behind in her pain meds and very sore! The nurses ended up coming in to give her medicine and try to get her comfortable again. Her stomach was "tightening" as Kelly described and was describing the pain as an 8 on a scale of 1 to 10...10 being the worst pain ever. Obviously, this had everyone concerned that she was having contractions or signs of pre-term delivery. After getting medicine in her and monitoring her uterus and Jackson for about a half hour - the on call doctor comes in for an internal exam of her cervix. I can only imagine how much pain she is in during all of this! I was in pain just watching....then Jackson decides to do some back flips and dance in Kelly's belly! You should have heard him on the monitor - I swear he knew exactly where the probe/microphone was and he was kicking it from the inside out!
Finally - after several hours of examination, the doctors determined that Kelly's uterus is still "contracting" back into place after being manipulated so much during the procedure, and that her pain was heightened by Jackson's movements! They described the fact that she is going to experience pain similar to her two prior c-sections with Carter and Jordyn, but will be more intense due to Jackson pushing, kicking, and pressure on a sore uterus and incision! But, it is like Kelly said - this is the best case scenario! Jackson is alive and doing well...and a growing baby boy with flow through his left ventricle and aorta! She is so awesome...talk about faith and perspective!
Since Kelly is the first patient with a successful Fetal Aortic Balloon Valveoplasty here in Pittsburgh - there are many "first time" moments for all involved and with that comes moments of uncertainty! So please keep our team of doctor's and nurses covered in prayer for their strength, wisdom, discernment and peace! There were many anxious and intense moments through out the early morning hours through the uncertainty...but we finally did get some sleep from about 4 to 9am! Hallelujah! And as I write this update morning...Kelly is back to sleep and is absolutely beautiful! She looks so peaceful and is getting some great rest! Thank you so much for I am seeing the impact of your prayers!
There is a possibility that we may be heading home to the farm today - but are waiting to meet with Dr. Speer before the discharge plan is determined! So please continue to cover Kelly's rest and comfort in prayer - and I will let you know the discharge forecast [as it is raining here in the 'burgh this morning] as soon as we know! Have an awesome Sunday!

All Eyes on Jesus...
